Wine Heaven at GrapeFest
This past weekend was the 27th annual GrapeFest in Grapevine, Texas. An area right out side of Dallas known for their wineries. The festival offers a variety of new wines, vendors, bands and is the largest wine festival in the Southwest. Of course I was in heaven.
As soon as we entered the festival, the first place we noticed was Su Vino Winery. They had a really great tasting that consisted mostly of sweet refreshing summer wines. I would almost describe fruit juice. I mean there was very little acidity or bite to it. Definitely nice for the hot summer days by the pool. My favorite was actually the Almond Champagne. It had a really interesting finish where you get a burst of almond flavor out of no where. Definitely going back to get a bottle.
After our mini tasting we started to explore the festival. There were tons of families out there despite the blazing heat. My friend Whitney was out there looking fabulous in her cute animal print dress and natural hair!
We also came across the cutest Cupcake Winery truck where they were offering samples of their Red Velvet and Chardonnay wine. I would definitely say that they are one of my favorite “affordable” wines.
We also came across the cutest little wine store that sold various wines and gadgets. I could definitely see myself owning a little shop like that or a spice store!
I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of the food we had (because we were starving), but it was delicious. I had a fried catfish sandwich with french fries. It’s not in my typical diet, but it was just what I needed. We had such a good time and it almost didn’t feel like we were still in Dallas. Whitney and I both left with our empty souvenir glasses! I can’t wait to see what they have in store next year.
