Red Hot Color

I can’t tell you how excited I am to introduce a new feature to Whitney Society. Starting this month, I will have guest bloggers that will share their expertise. This month I am proud to introduce Fairfax 28. This interior design firm will report on the hottest trends in home decor, color coordination, space planning, and all things design.

In recognition of Valentine’s Day we thought it was appropriate to celebrate the warmest color on the color wheel and one of the strongest. Red is Hot! This bold color comes in a multitude of varying shades and represents many contradicting emotions. In some cultures, red denotes purity, joy, and celebration. Red is the color of  happiness and prosperity in China and may be used to attract good luck.

A little bit of red goes a long way. Small doses can often be more effective than large amounts of this color. Here are a few examples from rooms that have done this well.
